IMAM MUHAMMAD IBN IDRIS AL-SHAFI&#;E
أَبُو عَبْدِ ٱللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ٱلشَّافِعِي
Abū ʿAbdillāh Muhammad ibn Idrīs al-Shāfiʿe
Muhammad Ibn Idris, to be known later as Imam Shafi’e, descended from the Hashimi family of the Quaraish tribe.
Often referred to as &#;Shaykh al-Islām&#;, al-Shāfi‘e was one of the four great Sunni Imams, whose legacy on juridical matters and teaching eventually led to the Shafi&#;ie Madhhab and school of fiqh.
His name, Al-Shafi&#;e signals that he was named after someone more famous than him, but we are unable to trace the history of such person.
So in the case of Imam Shafi’e, Shafi’e being the name with which he is most widely known by, even though his kunya is, Ibn Idris. Idris being the name of his father.
What is even more amazing, is that, Imam Shafi’ee has an ancestor more famous and more illustrious which he could have been called after, in Abdul Mutallib, the chieftain of the Quraysh Tribes and of course the Grandfather of rasulAllaah. This then becomes an ac
അബൂ അബ്ദില്ല മുഹമ്മദ് ബിന് ഇദ്രീസ് അശ്ശാഫിഈ എന്ന് പൂര്ണ നാമം. ഹിജ്റ ല് ഫലസ്ഥീനിലെ ഗസ്സയില് ജനിച്ചു. അബൂ ഹനീഫ (റ) ബഗ്ദാദില് ദിവംഗതനായ ദിവസമായിരുന്നു അത്. രണ്ടു വയസ്സ് തികയുന്നതിനു മുമ്പുതന്നെ പിതാവ് അന്തരിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് ഫലസ്ഥീനില് ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ടു കഴിയുന്നതില് വിരസത തോന്നിയ മാതാവ് അനാഥ പുത്രനുമൊത്ത് മക്കയില് പോയി. ഹസന് രണ്ടാമന്റെ പൗത്രി ഫാഥിമയായിരുന്നു മാതാവ്. പണ്ഡിതയും മതഭക്തയുമായ അവരുടെ ശിക്ഷണത്തിലായിരുന്നു പ്രാഥമിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം. പിതാമഹന്മാരില് വിഖ്യാത പുരുഷനായ ശാഫിഉബ്നു സാഇബിലേക്കു ചേര്ത്തി ശാഫിഈ എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടു. ശാഫിഉം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിതാവും ബദര് ദിനത്തില് ഇസ്ലാമാശ്ലേഷിച്ച പ്രമുഖ സ്വഹാബികളാണ്.
ബുദ്ധിപരമായ ഔന്നത്യം ചെറുപ്പത്തില് തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുപമനാക്കിയിരുന്നു. ഏഴാം വയസ്സില് ഖുര്ആനും പത്താം വയസ്സില് പ്രഥമ ഹദീസ് ഗ്രന്ഥമായ ഇമാം മാലികി (റ) ന്റെ മുവഥയും ഹൃദിസ്ഥമാക്കി. ശേഷം, മക്കയിലെ മുഫ്തിയായിരുന്ന മുസ്ലിം ബിന് ഖാലിദ് അസ്സഞ്ചിയുടെ അടുത്തു പോയി ഫിഖ്ഹ് പഠിച്ചു. പതിനഞ്ചു വയസ്സായപ്പോഴേക്കും ഫത്വ നല്കാനുള്ള കഴിവാര്ജ്ജിക്കുകയും അതിനുള്ള ഇജാസത്ത് (സമ്മതം) സ്വന്തമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ശേഷം, മദീനയിലെത്തി ഇമാം മാലിക് (റ) വിനോടൊപ്പം ചേര്ന്നു.

മേൽപ്പറഞ്ഞ ഹദീസ് [1] ഇസ്ലാമിൽ വിജ്ഞാനത്തിന് നൽകുന്ന മൂല്യത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ തെളിവാണ്. പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ പൈതൃകമായ വിജ്ഞാനം എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും ഒരു ശൃംഖല പ്രതിപ്രവർത്തനം പോലെയാണ്, കാരണം വിവരം കൈമാറുന്ന ഉറവിടവും അറിവ് നേടുന്ന ലക്ഷ്യസ്ഥാനവും അതിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരു പോലെ പ്രയോജനം നേടുന്നു.മഹത്തായ വ്യക്തിത്വത്തിന്റെ ഉദാഹരണമായ അബു അബ്ദുല്ല മുഹമ്മദ് ഇബ്ൻ ഇദ്രിസ് അൽ-ഷാഫിയുടെ കാര്യവും അങ്ങനെയാണ്, നാല് മഹാന്മാരായ ഇമാമുകളിൽ മൂന്നാമനായി ഇമാം അൽ-ഷാഫി ഓർമ്മിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
ഖുര്ആനിലും ഹദീസിലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുള്ള വിശാലമായ ജ്ഞാനപരപ്പിന്റെ കരുത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹം നടത്തിയ ഗവേഷണങ്ങള് ഹനഫീ-മാലികീ കര്മശാസ്ത്ര ധാരയില് നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി പുതിയൊരു കര്മശാസ്ത്ര ധാരയില് കൊണ്ടെത്തിച്ചു. അതോടെ ശാഫിഈ കര്മശാസ്ത്ര ധാരയുടെ അമരക്കാനായി അദ്ദേഹം മാറി

Short biography of Imam Al-Shafi'ee
Imam Al-Shafi’ee, also known as 'Shaykh Al Islam', is one of the four great Imams of Sunni schools of law. He is also the author of several prominent works in the field. He has been titled ‘Nasir al-Hadith’ which means “defender of hadith”.

Imam’s full name is Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Idris Al-Shafi’ee ibn Al-Abbas ibn Uthman ibn Syafie bin Ubaid ibn Abdu Yazid ibn Hasyim ibn Al-Muttalib [father of Abdul Muttalib grandfather of the Prophet (S.A.W.)] bin Abd Manaf.
