Dr. Frederick K. C. Price spent years searching for his mission in life. As he struggled to define himself, he served as a pastor in four different Christian denominations. But after receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit in , he founded the Crenshaw Christian Center, and now is pastor to more than 18, parishioners and 33 million households nationwide.
Despite his current following, Frederick Price&#x;s life has not always been consecrated to God. Dr. Price was born on January 3, in Santa Monica, CA, the eldest son of Winifred and Fred Price, who owned a janitorial service in West Los Angeles. He attended McKinley Elementary School in Santa Monica, Foshay Junior High, Manual Art and Dorsey High Schools in Los Angeles, and then completed two years of schooling at Los Angeles City College. His childhood was often troubled, marred especially by his father&#x;s struggle with alcoholism. In this wake, Price was left with feelings of inferiority and a number of phobias.

Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) was founded by Dr. Frederick K.C. Price in with some members. Membership currently numbers over 28, Eight years before establishing CCC, Dr. Price pastured West Washington Community Church, a small church in Los Angeles, under the auspices of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Because of a lack of positive results in his life and ministry, he grew dissatisfied with his personal spiritual development, so he searched for a more fruitful Christian experience. This led to his being baptized with the Holy Spirit according to Acts on February 28, Shortly after this experience, Dr. Price came into contact with the Bible teaching ministry of Kenneth E. Hagin. He grew in the knowledge and reality of God’s Word and began teaching the faith message.
As Dr. Price and his congregation grew in the operation of faith and continually acted upon the Word, signs followed. One of those signs was a steady growth in church membership. Eventually, the building on Washington Boulevard (which seated only persons comfortably) became too small for the growing congregation. Apostle Price, as he was known, died Friday, Feb. 12, , according to a statement his family posted on the Crenshaw Christian Center’s Facebook page. His daughter said in an earlier post that her father had been hospitalized due to complications from COVID
“Our Husband, Father & your Apostle has gone to be w/ the Lord this evening,” the Price family said in a statement posted on social media. “We accept his decision to go as he got a glimpse of glory a few weeks ago. We are sad. Please allow us some time to process. He fought the good fight of faith & laid hold of eternal life.”
Apostle Price was the longtime pastor of the Crenshaw Christian Center, which he founded in and grew into a megachurch that claims 28, members. The church is perhaps best known for the “FaithDome,” a large geodesic dome which opened in and seats 10, worshippers, making it the largest house of worship in the country at the time, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Although he had already operated in the fivefold ministry gift of apostle, in Apostle Price was publicly affirmed as an apostle of faith. Price III Christian Schools (preschool to 12th grade); the Ministry Training Institute in ; a CCC Correspondence School; the Frederick K.C. Price School of the Bible; and in , the Apostle Price Ministry Training Center. Over the years, Apostle Price has received many prestigious awards, most notably the Horatio Alger Award and the Kelly Miller Smith Interfaith Award.
