కంచెర్ల గోపన్న రామభక్తునిగా మారిన తరువాత భద్రాచల రామదాసుగా ప్రసిద్ధి పొందాడు. ఖమ్మంజిల్లా నేలకొండపల్లి గ్రామంలో సంవత్సరంలో జన్మించాడు. తండ్రి లింగమూర్తి. తల్లి కామాంబ. దాశరధీశతకంతో సహా ఎన్నో రామకీర్తనలు రామదాసు అందించినవే. తెలుగులో కీర్తనలకు ఆద్యుడు రామదాసు అంటారు.
ఇతని గురువు రఘునాథభట్టాచార్యులు. గోపన్న మేనమామ మాదన్న గోల్కొండ నవాబు తానీషా ఆస్థానంలో ఒక ముఖ్యఉద్యోగి. ఇతని సిఫార్స్ వలన గోపన్న పాల్వంచ పరగణాకు తహసిల్దార్ గా నియమించబడ్డాడు. గోదావరి నదీతీరంలోని భధ్రాచలంకూడా ఈ పరగణాలోనిదే. అప్పటికి భద్రాచల రామాలయం పాడుపడిన స్థితిలో ఉంటుంది. పోకల దమ్మక్క అనే రామభక్తురాలు ఈ గుడిని పునరుద్దరించమని గోపన్నను కోరతుంది. గోపన్న దానికి అంగీకరిస్తాడు. ఆలయ నిర్మాణానికి తానీషాకు కట్టవలసి భూమిశిస్తు సొమ్మును వాడతాడు. ఈ విషయం తెలిసిన తానీషా ఆగ్రహంతో గోపన్నను ఖైదు చేస్తాడు. 12 సంవత్సరాలు జైలులో బాధలు పడతాడు గొపన్న. జైలుగది గోడల మీద సీతా రామలక్ష్మణులను చిత్రాలను గీసి వారిని గురించి గానం చేస్తూ కాలం గడుపుతాడు. ఈ సమయంలోనే ప్రసిద్ధ సంకీర్తనలు రచించాడు. వాటిలో కొన్ని

Kancharla Gopanna (c. &#; ), also revered as Bhakta Ramadasu or Bhadrachala Ramadasu, was a 17th-century Indian saint-poet and composer. A devout follower of Lord Rama, he left a lasting mark on Telugu culture and Carnatic music.
Born in Nelakondapalli village (Khammam district), Gopanna's early life was marked by hardship after losing his parents in his teens. He later found himself in Bhadrachalam, where he is credited with renovating or constructing the famed Sita Ramachandraswamy Temple, a major pilgrimage site on the Godavari River.
Gopanna's spiritual devotion found expression in his music. He composed numerous kirtans (devotional songs) in Telugu, with some works also in Sanskrit and occasional use of Tamil. These compositions, known as Ramadasu Keertanalu, are celebrated for their adherence to the classical Carnatic music structure, featuring pallavi, anupallavi, and charanam sections.

Kancherla Gopanna, popularly known as Bhadradri Ramadasu or Bhadrachala Ramadasu, was a 17th century devotee of Rama and a composer of Carnatic music. He is one among the famous vaggeyakaras (same person being the writer and composer of a song) in the Telugu language, the others being Tyagaraja, Annamayya, Kshetryya. He lived in the village of Nelakondapalli near Khammam, Telangana during the 17th century and is renowned for constructing a famous temple for Rama at Bhadrachalam. His devotional lyrics on Lord Rama are famous in South Indian classical music as Ramadaasu Keertanalu. Even the doyen of South Indian classical music Saint Thyagaraja learned and later improved the style now considered standard krithi form of music composition. He also wrote Dasarathi Shatakamu with a &#;makuTamu&#; &#;dASaradhee karuNA payOnidhI&#;, a collection of nearly poems dedicated to the son of Dasaratha (Lord Rama).
