Dr Eva Orsmond 'frustrated' at claims Ozempic is a weight loss miracle drug
Dr Eva Orsmond has spoken out against Ozempic, the so-called miracle drug for type 2 diabetes and weight loss, saying it is not the cure-all it purports to be.
The TV personality and diabetes expert who is the owner of Ireland's only private diabetes clinic, told the Irish Mail on Sunday that she is 'so frustrated' by claims that Ozempic can 'cure' the disease and treat obesity forever.
Ozempic's popularity has soared over the past year, with celebrities from Oprah Winfrey to Elon Musk reportedly taking the diabetes treatment as a quick way to lose weight.
However, it was first produced as a drug for type 2 diabetes and is now prescribed by the HSE for treatment of the disease.
The injections mimic a hormone called GLP-1 which boosts the production of insulin, which regulates blood sugar and is vital to controlling type 2 diabetes - the most common form of the condition.
