基于热活化延迟荧光(Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence TADF)的发光材料的开发
传统的OLED发光材料根据发光原理的不同分为荧光材料和磷光材料，也就是通常所说的第一代和第二代发光材料。荧光材料的激子经由单重态的自旋发光，而磷光材料除单重态外经由三重态的自旋状态也会发光。由于单重态和三重态的自旋状态比为1：3，因此荧光材料的内部最大量子效率为25%，其中的三重态激子的能量一般以非辐射的形式耗散，而磷光材料最大为%。虽然磷光材料的发光效率可以达到%，但由于磷光材料含有稀有金属，材料昂贵。因此学者们急于开发一种基于不含有稀有金属的材料。这其中，安达教授的团队（日本国立九州大学的最先端有机光电子研究中心OPERA）就取得了突出的成果。
年安达研究组在nature杂志上发表基于Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence(TADF) 热活性型延迟荧光材料为辅助掺杂剂的有机EL器件，使其内部量子效率达到了%, 由于这突出的效率，人们也称TADF材料为第三代有机EL荧光材料。[1] TADF中的激子最终是基于单重态发光，从这一意义来说它属于荧光材料。但三重态激子受热后会&#;激励&#;成单重态，这样便有望使全部的激子发光。该材料不含有稀有金属及稀土类元素，使用该材料的OLED元件及显示器可使其EQE(外部量子效率)达到20%以上，获得了与使用磷光材料的元件相匹敌的结果。TADF材料的出现将使新一代低功耗电视机和LED照明设备的开发倍受期待。
据报道年苹果公司将推出配备以清晰图像和节电作为卖点的有机EL面板的产品。中日韩为主的手机零部件厂商等也正抓紧布局有机EL器件市场。

Born in Nagano and raised in Tokyo, Professor Adachi's given name, Chihaya, comes from the 17th makura-kotoba poem of the Hyakunin Isshu " poems by famous poets." With an unparalleled love for experiments, he first became interested in organic EL early on in his graduate school days before it was an established field.
