世界上有机电子领域研究的先驱研究者之一,主要研究致力于有机光电、有机半导体器件物性、有机光物理化学。

基于热活化延迟荧光(Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence TADF)的发光材料的开发

传统的OLED发光材料根据发光原理的不同分为荧光材料和磷光材料,也就是通常所说的第一代和第二代发光材料。荧光材料的激子经由单重态的自旋发光,而磷光材料除单重态外经由三重态的自旋状态也会发光。由于单重态和三重态的自旋状态比为1:3,因此荧光材料的内部最大量子效率为25%,其中的三重态激子的能量一般以非辐射的形式耗散,而磷光材料最大为%。虽然磷光材料的发光效率可以达到%,但由于磷光材料含有稀有金属,材料昂贵。因此学者们急于开发一种基于不含有稀有金属的材料。这其中,安达教授的团队(日本国立九州大学的最先端有机光电子研究中心OPERA)就取得了突出的成果。

年安达研究组在nature杂志上发表基于Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence(TADF) 热活性型延迟荧光材料为辅助掺杂剂的有机EL器件,使其内部量子效率达到了%, 由于这突出的效率,人们也称TADF材料为第三代有机EL荧光材料。[1]  TADF中的激子最终是基于单重态发光,从这一意义来说它属于荧光材料。但三重态激子受热后会&#;激励&#;成单重态,这样便有望使全部的激子发光。该材料不含有稀有金属及稀土类元素,使用该材料的OLED元件及显示器可使其EQE(外部量子效率)达到20%以上,获得了与使用磷光材料的元件相匹敌的结果。TADF材料的出现将使新一代低功耗电视机和LED照明设备的开发倍受期待。

 

据报道年苹果公司将推出配备以清晰图像和节电作为卖点的有机EL面板的产品。中日韩为主的手机零部件厂商等也正抓紧布局有机EL器件市场。

Putting faith in the idea that "no technology is impossible," Professor Adachi is a top runner in the world of organic electronics, having been the first to develop third-generation organic electroluminescent (EL) materials. With a face that reveals an unmistakable coffee lover, Professor Adachi secretly enjoys buying unusual soaps on his work trips as souvenirs for friends and family.

Born in Nagano and raised in Tokyo, Professor Adachi's given name, Chihaya, comes from the 17th makura-kotoba poem of the Hyakunin Isshu " poems by famous poets." With an unparalleled love for experiments, he first became interested in organic EL early on in his graduate school days before it was an established field. Since graduating from the doctoral program of the Kyushu University Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences, Department of Materials Science and Technology, in , he has continuously pursued organic EL research, having held positions as a researcher at the Chemical Products R & D Center, Ricoh Co.
