Our pitch is simple: The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation is all about opportunity.


Since , we’ve honored the legacy of coach and mentor Cal Ripken, Sr. by bridging critical gaps for at-risk youth. Through our three pillars—National Youth Mentoring Initiatives, Youth Development Parks, and the National STEM Initiative—we provide opportunities that build character, foster mentorship, and promote STEM education.

In , we were able to impact over million underserved kids with the help of more than 35, trained mentors, coaches, teachers, and law enforcement volunteers. Our Youth Development Park Initiative has created safe spaces—22 serving children with special needs—benefiting over , youth. And finally, through our National STEM Initiative, we have installed STEM Centers, reaching over , children in need of STEM education.

What does it mean to be UNCOMMON?

Remarkable, exceptional, out of the ordinary, rare…these are all words that you find in the definition for uncommon. Uncommon people are everywhere you look. Cal, Jr. and Bill were fortunate enough to have a father who was an uncommon man who taught them uncommon principles. It didn’t matter what the job was; nothing was too big or small for Cal Ripken, Sr.  Often times you would find him dragging the infield before a game, or driving the team bus afterwards. Cal, Sr. valued certain lessons in life, and he made sure that he instilled these values in his children and players whenever he could.

Bill and Cal, Jr. took their father’s values and lessons to heart. Cal Ripken Brother: Who Are Billy And Fred Ripken?

Cal Ripken grew up in a family with two younger brothers and a sister. Among his siblings, his brother Billy followed Cal&#;s lead and got involved in baseball too.

Cal and Billy carried on the family&#;s baseball legacy, inspired by their dad&#;s sports career, while Fred took a different route and developed a strong interest in motorcycles.

While Cal and Billy stuck with baseball, Fred found his own passion and pursued it in the motorcycle world.

Cal Ripken Jr. is a well-known former American baseball player who is nicknamed &#;Iron Man&#; for his incredible durability in the sports world.

He was born on August 24, , in Havre De Grace, Maryland. On September 6, , Ripken achieved an iconic feat by playing his 2,st consecutive game for the Baltimore Orioles in the American League.

This surpassed the longstanding major league record set by Lou Gehrig for consecutive games played, which had remained unbroken for over 56 years.

Ripken&#;s remarkable achievement earned him widespread recognition as one of the most enduring athletes in the history of professional sports.

Ripken Sr. was a former professional baseball player who started his career as a highly touted catcher in the Baltimore farm system. After suffering a career-ending shoulder injury, he went on to manage a number of the Orioles’ minor league affiliates, eventually working his way up to Baltimore where he coached and later managed the Orioles.
