Book Description
Sirat Ibn Hisham, also known as the Life of the Prophet, is a biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) written by Ibn Hisham (died CE). It is considered one of the most authoritative and comprehensive biographies of the Prophet, and it has been translated into many languages and is widely read by Muslims around the world.
The book is based on the earlier work of Ibn Ishaq (died CE), which is now lost. Ibn Hisham edited and revised Ibn Ishaq’s work, and he also added some new material of his own. Consequently, there is a rich accretion of myth and miracle, mysterious portents and heavenly signs, of residues from other religious beliefs and traditions, the propaganda, in f
