Muddu Babu Shetty ( – 23 January ) simply known as, M. B. Shetty, or Shetty was an Indian film stuntman, action c*ographer and actor in Hindi cinema in s. He had a towering personality with a bald head, often cast as the villain brought down by heroes half his size. He was the father of director Rohit Shetty.
Early life
He was born in in Mangalore, India. He arrived to Bombay from Udupi. His mother tongue was Tulu. He started as a waiter in Cotton Green after which he got into boxing and bodybuilding.
Film career
He started off as a Fight Instructor in the movie Heer. He was cast as villain and composed stunts for numerous Hindi and Kannada cinema in the s. He was an action director, doing over films, including cult films like Don, The Great Gambler, Trishul, Deewaar and Shalimar. Shetty also starred with M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), in Navarathinam () Tamil movie.
Personal life
His first wife was Vinodini, with whom he had two daughters and two sons. With his second wife, Ratna, he had another son, the film director Rohit Shetty.

Muddu (Mudhu) Babu (Balwant) Shetty is an Indian stuntman of the s. He is popularly known as Shetty, Fighter Shetty, Fight Master Shetty, and MB Shetty. He was born in Mangalore (Chief port city of Karnataka), India. When he was nine years old, his father found that he was not much interested in studies at the school. Shetty’s father decided to send him to Mumbai (referred to as Bombay in those times) so that he can learn any skill which can guard him against adversities. So, from Udupi, he came to Mumbai. At Mumbai, Shetty worked as a waiter for a Tata Company canteen at Cotton Green. He detested these ordinary jobs. He hated anything which was deskbound. Shetty was blessed with a good physique and soon started boxing. It was during his boxing practice he came across K N Mendon, a famous gymnast, and he decided to train Shetty professionally. Soon, Shetty became a champion in boxing and won tournaments for eight years.
After this, he joined the film industry as a body double. He also learned sword fighting and horse riding from Azim Bhai, the villain, with a bald head and towering physique, in the movies. MB Shetty acted as the body double of famous heroes of
